Memorial Donor Quilts
Ripples of Hope Memorial Donor Family Quilt
Ripples of Hope
Throw a pebble in a pond
And watch the ripples flow.
They expand out in a ring,
A widening halo.
But though they seem to disappear
And the waves are gone,
Their effect within the pond
Will travel on and on.
--Dr. John Parker
The Ripples of Hope Memorial Donor Family Quilt is a labor of love, created as
a tribute to generous tissue and eye donors by their families. Quilt squares
show each donor’s unique talents, interests and character traits. Sue
Vollbrecht, a Monona, Wis. quilt maker, wove 21 quilt squares into a special
“ripple” design. The design symbolizes how a single gift can benefit many
people, similar to the ripples from a single pebble dropped into a pond.
Through this quilt, RTI Donor Services – Allograft Resources Division and the
Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin acknowledge donors and their families who performed
the ultimate act of kindness by giving the gift of life.
Click on the squares below for more details.
